Blayds Gland Select

Introduction

Blayds Gland Select is a web application I built for Blayds to help engineers and procurement teams choose the right cable glands for hazardous-area installations. Cable glands are small but critical components used in oil & gas, mining, chemical processing, and similar industries where equipment must meet strict certifications. Matching specs is tedious; this tool centralizes product data and guides users to compliant options.

Access is behind login, with standard registration including company details, terms, and privacy policy support. The UI is built to get technical users to the right product quickly without hunting through datasheets alone.

Product Catalog

Authenticated users see two primary tools. The first is a full product catalog: browse every gland in the system and select based on their own expertise when they already know what they need.

Guided Selection

The second tool is a guided selector that walks users step by step through cable type, gland type, and required certification, narrowing results to products that match all criteria.

Configuration & My Lists

After choosing a product, a short configuration flow covers thread type, body material, and optional accessories. Configured items save to the user’s personal list. From My Lists, they review saved configurations and take next steps.

Distributor Lookup & Quotations

From a saved item, users can search for local distributors by manufacturer and country (provided at signup). They can also submit a quotation request through the app; requests go to the Blayds team for follow-up and pricing.
